Nairobi, March 25, 2025 – Tickets for Kenya’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Gabon at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium have been officially declared sold out, as supporters rally behind Harambee Stars in high anticipation of a home fixture after years of neutral-ground matches.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed robust ticket sales, offering 21,000 regular tickets (Ksh 300), 1,800 VIP (Ksh 1,000), and 100 VVIP tickets (Ksh 10,000). Despite capacity limits and CAF safety regulations capping stadium attendance at 17,000 seats, FKF announced that all available seats had been snapped up well before matchday.
In detail, FKF President Hussein Mohamed later clarified that approximately 17,406 tickets were sold, comprising 15,968 regular, 1,331 VIP, and 107 VVIP allocations, generating roughly Ksh 6.5 million. He emphasized that despite earlier announcements of “22,900 tickets” available, CAF-mandated buffers required selling fewer to comply with security standards
The sold‑out crowd marks a historic homecoming for Harambee Stars, their first competitive home match since early 2021, and signals renewed energy around Kenyan football under the leadership of coach Benni McCarthy.
Captain Michael Olunga praised the fan turnout, declaring: “Your unwavering support means everything… Let’s paint Nyayo red, black, and green”.
Kenya enters this fixture buoyed by a spirited 3–3 draw away to Gambia. The result has raised expectations that Harambee Stars can compete strongly for a maiden World Cup berth. Fans are now urged to tune in via television or online platforms, as no match‑day tickets will be available.
As Kenya closes in on its final group stage matches, featuring opponents such as Côte d’Ivoire, Burundi, and The Gambia, this sold‑out fixture underscores the national passion and renewed faith in the team’s potential.
