Christians are people who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and believe that he is the Son of God and the saviour promised for ages in the Bible. Christianity began about 2000 years ago in the Middle East and has become one of the world’s largest religions.
In Christianity, as in any faith, one of the practices is attending church. Some people separate their personal relationship with God from organised religion. They may pray, read the Bible, listen to online sermons and worship privately at home.
Disappointment and hurt from church experiences. People who have faced judgment, hypocrisy, conflict, favouritism, and manipulation which involves church leaders or members. This makes them feel unwelcomed making them distance themselves from church even if they still believe in God.
People tend to focus on modern life. Many people are busy with work, studies, business, family, responsibilities or travelling. There is a lack of time to go to church as many people focus on their living improvements. Technology has changed worship habits because of the following services through television, radio, YouTube or social media instead of attending physically.
Some preachers lack knowledge about the Bible, which leads to misinformation, and they have been materialistic, which is for their own benefit. As they may explain the total out of the guidance of the word of God. The church members decided to read and understand the Bible alone. This has made many members leave the church with a bad perception of it.
The church should have a loving and caring atmosphere, as everyone will feel encouraged and supported. The church members should practice integrity, humility, forgiveness and unity. People should be encouraged to participate instead of being spectators. Preachers should preach relevant and biblical messages that connect God’s word to everyday life experiences.
People should be encouraged to go to church because it is God’s presence.
