Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial job has always seen big managerial names appointed and just within a few months, what follows is chaotic. Mostly just because of poor results and league pressure and competitiveness. We have seen big managers like Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank and currently Igor Tudor just in a span of six seasons. Remember, I excluded interim managers; that is, nine managers in six Premier League seasons is crazy and highly alarming.
If all these managers managed equal Premier League games, each manager would manage 25 games and this actually tells you where the club is heading. When they had Jose Mourinho in 2019, Football fans across the world expected the club to stick with him for many years due to his reputation and good history with many big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Benfica, AS Roma and Real Madrid, but the club decided to surprise many by sacking him just one day before the finals.
The club repeated the same mistake by sacking Ange Postecoglou after winning the Europa League trophy, breaking the club’s 17-year trophy drought. I think clubs sack managers because they did not achieve what they had agreed when signing a contract with the club. So why did Jose and Ange get sacked?. For me, only Tottenham club anarchy knows the reason why they recently take this bold decisions.
The reality is, we all expect managers to be given time and all the support to achieve something great with any club. Clubs like Arsenal stick with managers for too long, giving them time, but it also depends on club tradition and how they are used to ranking achievements. For example, if any manager fails to win any trophy in clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, or Real Madrid, there will be pressure and if the manager fails to deliver as per the club tradition, there will be no second chance, no matter the weight of the contract.
In conclusion, Tottenham Hotspur should measure the effects of bringing in any coach after a while and seriously focus on achievements. Also, the players should be held responsible for some downfalls
