Missing Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was reportedly found Monday morning dumped in a coffee plantation in Kibichoi area, Kiambu County.
The perpetrator of the incident has not been identified.
He claimed that his supposed kidnappers picked him up from outside a Kiambu church on Sunday afternoon and beat him severely.
His family claims that his life is now in danger after recordings of him writhing in agony and obvious pain appeared online.
Juja MP is currently receiving treatment at a hospital close to Ruiru town,
Unknown people are said to have kidnapped Koimburi at a church service on Sunday, May 25, in front of the audience, who watched in disbelief as he was loaded into a Subaru car.
Days after missing, he reappeared at Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, Kiambu County.
Koimburi’s close ally, Senator Thang’wa, confirmed the latest events in an exclusive interview, saying that a plot to capture the politician has been underway since last week.
Senator Thang’wa stated, “They have been following him since he was awarding bursaries last week.” “It was by sheer luck that he escaped on a motorbike,” he stated.
According to Citizen TV, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any role in the MP’s kidnapping. However, the DCI acknowledged that Koimburi had been wanted on suspicion of land theft and misappropriation of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) since Friday.
Following earlier accounts of Koimburi’s abduction, the seizure on Sunday occurred just hours after he reappeared.
Though early reports on Friday said Koimburi had been abducted, Thang’wa said the politician had escaped and gone into hiding. Until Sunday, when he showed up at the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, no one knew where he was.
Koimburi was stopped by DCI detectives on his way to Parliament in February of this year for comments he made about the specifics of the African Union Commission chairperson elections, in which Kenya was taking the lead.
In a devastating speech at a church service, Koimburi accused the government of using more than Ksh13 billion in taxpayer funds to court African presidents to back former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s candidacy for chair of the AUC.
This situation with Koimburi is quite intriguing. It’s hard to believe he managed to escape and stay hidden for so long without anyone knowing his whereabouts. Showing up at the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha seems like a bold move—was it a strategic decision or a personal one? I wonder what his supporters think about all this and if they were worried during his disappearance. The whole abduction claim adds another layer of mystery—was it a misunderstanding or something more serious? I’d love to hear more about what really happened behind the scenes. Do you think this incident will affect his political career moving forward?
