Arsenal secured 3 points in the London derby against Chelsea which keeps them 5 points ahead of Manchester city in the league table, Jurrien Timber’s winner in the 66th minute secured a 2-1 win which helped the Gunners survive a massive scare at home after Chelsea equalized late in the first half through an Hincapie Own goal which gave them momentum to take to the second half, but David Raya was once again the difference in both teams, making 3 good saves to deny Chelsea the lead.
The Blues continued to be the victims of their own problem as Pedro Neto was shown a red card in the 70th minute. He was given 2 yellow cards in a span of three minutes, which saw him walk off the pitch, forcing Chelsea to finish the game with 10 men. This was Chelsea’s 6th red card of the season. That is 2 more than the other teams; disciplinary issues have been a problem for Chelsea this season. They have been fined in some games by the FA because they have accumulated more than 6 yellow cards in one game.
Manchester City continues to put pressure on Arsenal after a hard-fought 1- 0 win against Leeds United. When the line-ups came out, it was a surprise to everyone that the top scorer, Erling Haaland, was not in the squad. Man City went ahead and lined up with a false 9 system where Semenyo thrived and handed the Citizens the lead, which later ended up being the winner.
Liverpool continued to push for a place in the Champions League after a dramatic 5-2 win against Westham, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike both found the net, helping the team to climb up to 5th spot. There was a seven-goal thriller in Turf Moor, which Brentford won 3-4. The lead changed hands 3 times before a stoppage-time winner from Damsagaard, which leaves Burnley 7 points away from safety.
Michael Carrick’s Manchester United had to come back from behind to secure a 2-1 win against Crystal palace, they conceded an early goal in the first half which they responded in the second half with 2 quick goals after Lacroix got himself a red card and conceded a penalty which Bruno scored and and brought united back to the game, high-flying Benjamin Sesko got the winner continuing his goal scoring form, the win takes united to 3rd place going above Aston villa due to goal difference.
Tottenham’s miserable run continues as they suffer another loss to Fulham. They conceded 2 early goals in the first half, leaving massive space for Iwobi and Wilson to exploit. The introduction of Richarlison helped them to get one back, but it was not enough to even get a point. This is the Spurs’ 4th loss in a row, leaving them only 4 points above the relegation zone.
